College: Making It Happen is a program designed to communicate
to families and school educators the importance of early academic and financial
planning in order for middle school children to have choices after high school
graduation.
Originally designed for families and school educators of sixth to ninth grade
students, the materials and presentations are applicable to parents of
students in other grades as well.
There are three components of College: Making It Happen:
* An informational packet in English and Spanish consisting of materials
designed to support families and educators becoming involved in the educational
lives of middle school students so that they can be their academic advisors and
financial planners;
* A schedule of events
that provides families and students with the opportunity to hear presentations
from representatives of all higher sectors in the state as well as to view the
video and receive the packets.
